| Business Licenses
Whether you are a multi-billion dollar corporation, or operate a gumball machine, you are responsible for licensing your business. If you own virtually any business in the City of Chicago, you must be licensed. Licensing a business can, at times, seem confusing — there are over 195 different types of licenses and the fees can range from $2 to $4,000. The City Clerk's Business Licensing Section, located in Room 107 of City Hall, Is there to help guide you through the process. A complete listing of business licenses, as well as information on obtaining a license, is available at the Department of Revenue's License and Tax Information website.
