Executive orders are official declarations issued by the Mayor which have the force of law. Citations to executive orders issued by Mayor Bilandic and Mayor Byrne are noted according to date while citations to executive orders issued by Mayor Washington to the present include the year in which the order was issued, followed by a hyphen then the order number. For example the second executive order issued for the year 1996 would be cited as Executive Order 96-2.
