What documents do I need to purchase a city sticker and residential zone parking permit if I recently purchased a vehicle or am a new resident to the City of Chicago?
The most important document(s) for purchasing the aforementioned stickers is a valid Illinois driver's license/identification card bearing your current Chicago address. The Clerk's office understands that it is difficult to obtain updated identification, especially if you are a new resident. If you cannot produce such identification, then a valid signed please, utility bill or vehicle bill of sale with your current address will work as well. Please be advised that there is a thirty (30) day grace period from the date you purchased your new vehicle or from the day you moved into the city to purchase your sticker without incurring a late fee. The aforementioned documentation must be provided at the point
of sale to avoid a late fee.
