Chicago's Kids Identification Systems (KIDS) is a continuing service provided by the City Clerk's office. As the official record keeper of City government, the Clerk's office has launched this high-tech system to keep track of the most important records of all -- our children. Kids ID application
KIDS works by taking digital picture of children along with information provided by the parents. This information is stored securely in the Clerk's office to be used only when police and the family report that a child is missing. Then the information can be posted on the Internet and distributed to law enforcement, the media and other search groups. Parents receive an ID card with their child's picture and fingerprint using new, inkless technology. On the ID card is a telephone number to call after reporting a missing child to police.
Once activated, the KIDS program can produce a document containing the child's picture and biographical and descriptive information. This service is free to Chicago parents. To schedule an appointment for your children, or to receive more information, please call the City Clerk's office at 312-744-2506.
