You must buy a city vehicle sticker if you own or lease a car and live in the City of Chicago more than 30 days out of the year, regardless of where the car is registered. Do not buy a city sticker from any person other than the city or an official agent of the city. Stickers or guest parking passes bought from a non-authorized 3rd party are not valid and your car may be ticketed and towed. Municipal Code 3-56 governs city sticker sales. Regardless of when you purchase your sticker, all city vehicle stickers expire June 30 of each year. If you purchase an annual residential parking permit, your vehicle sticker includes your residential parking permit zone number (as depicted below).
