Committee Meetings and Agendas

The City Council is organized into nineteen standing committees having specified legislative oversight responsibilities. Special committees may be created by the City Council upon resolution adopted by a two-thirds vote of the aldermen entitled by law to be elected. Committees meet on call of the chairman or upon request of a majority of the members.

The date, location and matters to be considered by City Council committees are set by the individual chairman. In accordance with the Illinois Open Meetings Act (5 ILCS 120/2, et seq.) meeting notices and agendas for City Council standing committees are posted in the Office of the City Clerk, City Council Division, City Hall, Room 107, lower level, 121 North La Salle Street. If you have specific questions regarding meeting schedules or agendas, please contact the chairman of the appropriate City Council standing committee for details.
