WHO: The Office of the Chicago City Clerk
WHAT: The Office of the Chicago City Clerk presents the second annual Culinary Kids Christmas Kitchen. The Clerk’s Office will be joined byIllinois State Comptroller Susana A. Mendoza, Chicago’s cooking nun and Food Network’s Chopped champion Sister Alicia Torres, Palmer House Executive Chef Stephen Henry and Testa Produce Chef Courtney Barton to prepare a holiday feast for 50 senior citizens of the Mission of Our Lady of the Angels parish. Chicago Bears linebacker Otis Wilson, Bears wide receiver Wendell Davis, Bulls forward Bob “Butterbean” Love, Bulls forward Mickey Johnson, White Sox Outfielder Dan Pasqua, and Sky shooting guard/small forward Betnijah Laney will help serve the food to the guests.
All food will be prepared with the help of students from William Howard Taft High School, Amundsen High School, and Carl Von Linne Elementary School’s culinary programs. Menu items include butternut squash soup, maple glazed roasted chicken breast, and Sister Alicia’s delicious dessert creation.
While the guests dine, holiday favorites will be performed by the William Howard Taft High School choir. Our friends at Common Threads will also be joining the festivities. The event will be officiated by ABC 7 sportscaster Jim Rose and ABC 7 entertainment reporter Janet Davies.
