New Deal for All Chicago Women and Girls

In October 2018, Chicago City Clerk Anna Valencia along with more than 120 women from a variety of industries and backgrounds-including government, education, nonprofit, corporate, and service industry-announced the creation of the Chicago Status of Women and Girls Working Group. This Working Group sought to build upon the amazing efforts and organizations in the city, including the Chicago Foundation for Women (CFW) and their report tracking the region’s progress towards gender equity. The goal of the Working Group was to review existing research, reports, and best practices, as well as discuss lived experiences, in order to recommend citywide policies and initiatives to make Chicago a safer and more equitable place, and ultimately, the best city in the country for women and girls. These recomendations, the New Deal for All Women and Girls, are the results of that Working Group.
