Valencia sworn in as City Clerk

CHICAGOCity Clerk Anna Valencia was sworn in today marking the beginning of her seventh year in office. Having led in becoming the first major city in the country to implement electronic voting, restructuring fines and fees, and rolling out Chicago’s municipal identification program, Valencia plans to continue using her platform to uplift and unite communities.

Clerk Valencia released the following statement as she looks toward the next four years:

“I’m so humbled for the opportunity to continue serving the people of Chicago as City Clerk. Our new City Council is the most diverse council to serve our city. I’m so excited to work with them and Mayor Johnson to usher in a new era of technological innovation, modernization and access for our communities.

“Together, we can uplift all communities, and ensure that their voices, lived experiences and policy ideas are incorporated into the work we do at City Hall. As long as I’m serving, I will continue to use my platform to elevate the voices necessary to bring the most impactful changes forward.

“Whether it’s our CityKey program, fines and fees reform, City Council Modernization, or empowering our youth through our Next Gen civic engagement program, my team and I are committed to helping move our city forward, together, as one.”
