Clerk Valencia’s City Sticker Amnesty returns in April
Drivers can purchase a City Sticker without late fees or back charges throughout April
CHICAGO – City Clerk Anna Valencia shared a video on YouTube and Instagram announcing the return of the Office of the City Clerk’s Amnesty Month program. Starting April 1, 2026, running through April 30, 2026, vehicle owners will be able to purchase their City Sticker without late fees or back charges. This year, the program is expanding access by offering amnesty at three Saturday Mobile City Hall events and on the City Clerk’s 24-hour e-commerce site, ezbuy.chicityclerk.com, throughout the month of April.
“Last year, we saw more than 15,000 drivers get their City Stickers and brought in $1.6 million in new revenue for the City,” Valencia said. “We know people can’t always take time off work to get the services they need. So, this year, we’re expanding access to meet people where they are and give even more drivers the opportunity to come into compliance without late fees or back charges by offering amnesty in person with our three Saturday Mobile City Hall events and online.”
Mobile City Hall events will offer all Office of the City Clerk services, including City Stickers and CityKey IDs. Representatives from the Department of Finance and the Department of Streets and Sanitation will also be in attendance.
During the month of April, residents can participate in City Sticker amnesty in three ways:
- Visit any Office of the City Clerk or Department of Finance location
- Come to a Mobile City Hall during one of the following dates:
- April 11 | Orr High School |730 N. Pulaski Rd. | 10:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m.
- April 18 | Kroc Center |1250 W. 119th St. | 10:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m.
- April 25 | Avalon Park |1215 E. 83rd St. | 10:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m.
- Visit ezbuy.chicityclerk.com online
To purchase on EzBuy, drivers that have been out of compliance for more than six months or new residents purchasing online for the first time will need to create a record at bit.ly/OCCEForm. Any attempts to create a record after April 17, 2026, are not guaranteed to be processed in time for Amnesty Month, and it’s recommended that drivers who miss that deadline come in person instead. All City Sticker purchases for Amnesty Month must be made by April 30, 2026, to be eligible.
All Chicago residents driving, parking, leasing and/or owning a vehicle for which they are responsible in the City of Chicago are subject to the Chicago Wheel Tax and must purchase a Chicago City Sticker. For more information about Chicago City Stickers, visit our FAQ at bit.ly/ChiCityClerkSticker.
“Amnesty Month is an opportunity for residents to catch a break while the City is still able to collect revenue we weren’t getting otherwise,” Valencia said. “As families across Chicago experience financial hardship and the City faces the challenges of the upcoming budget season, creating these win-win opportunities is extremely important.”
